CASology Week 246: Season

Image
Happy Sunday again!  I have my card ready for the CASology week 246 Challenge .  The challenge word is SEASON.  And, like many, I  have Spring on my mind.  Something we don't really see here in Arizona - we tend to go directly into summer around here.  Which is why I am nostalgic... My card today is a simple watercolor card using a new stamp set from Molly & Rex.  I'm not familiar with this brand, but it was on the endcap at Michaels and with my coupon I got the set for $4!! Cute and cheap - my favorite combination. I stamped my image onto Canson #140 lb watercolor paper using my Stampperfect.  This stamp has alot of detail around the bike spokes so I wanted to stamp it twice with Versamark. I embossed the stamped image with white embossing powder and heat set. I added my Distress Ink to an acrylic block and misted with water to activate.  I let it sit for a few minutes while I prepped my paper. ...

Seriously Cool Mistake

Image
Hi there!  Its been a bit since I have visited - I've had a few things to post but haven't had a chance to sit down and just get it done. This card for the Simonsaysstamp We've Got Your Number Challenge  was a seriously cool mistake.  I am also entering this card into the  MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge - Sketch 330 . The SSS Challenge is to put a number somewhere into the creation.  This is the first time I have entered this challenge - the style is a "vintage artistic style" which I am not sure I captured, but the I like to test my capabilities with each challenge. The MFT Sketch Challenge gave us this sketch to emulate:   I started by embossing a piece of Canson XL Watercolor #140 lb paper with a cute Pineapple embossing folder I got on clearance at my local PaperSource store.  I then did my favorite technique  and blended some Distress inks followed by  some water splashes.  Here is where I deviated fro...

More challenge Monday!

Hi everyone!  I was up so late last night creating my last 2 cards that I am exhausted today!  How crazy that at work the time creeps by, but the moment I open my craft cabinet and start unloading my goodies to create time starts whizzing by!  I woke up satisfied, but tired, and had a horribly messy craft room (a.k.a Dining room).  My poor husband, he is so awesome to put up with my creative bursts! Today, I created one card for 2 different challenges: the MFT Sketch Challenge - Sketch 329 and the CAS-ual Fridays CFC172 Color Challenge - Pink, Navy and White.  This card uses the adorable pigs and sentiment from MFT Stamps "The Whole Herd".  The layout follows the MFT Sketch Challenge 349.  The CAS-ual Fridays CFC172 challenge is all about color - Pink, Navy, and White only.  That was easy as I am really into those colors lately. Let me tell you, this is my first card without flowers in quite some time.  I think I am...

A Blog Named Hero - Smile!

Image
Hi there!  I have my first entry into A Blog named Hero...Smile -  Anything Goes Challenge For this challenge, I used my very favorite stamp (which is apparent as it is all over my IG feed), the Large Floral Background. First, I colored some 110 lb white paper with multiple Gelatos - one of my favorite mediums.  I used a couple of baby wipes to blend the colors together. I find this is the easiest and cleanest way to blend Gelatos. Next, I die cut the treated paper with a new die cut, honestly I cannot remember where it is from.  Either Anna Griffin or Spellbinders.  I then took the background stamp and inked it up with Memento Tuxedo Black before putting the treated paper on top of the stamp. Look how awesome this stamp is!  Can you blame me for loving it as much as I do?! Finally, I heat embossed the sentiment with Versamark and cobalt blue embossing powder and mounted everything on foam.  And, once again, ...

You are absolutely beYOUtiful...Pinsights Challenge

Image
Hello all!  This is so exciting, my very first  Pin Sights Challenge  post!!! Here is my entry: This card has one of my favorites, the BeYoutiful die.  I love the colors that this pin-sight challenge has, the soft purples and pinks.  I hope my photo can capture the colors! First I stamped the background using both Memento in Angel Pink and Distress Ink in Shaded Lilac.  Then I die cut a circle out to hold the sentiment. While that dried, I stamped the other part of the sentiment from a Heidi Swapp set.  I used my Hampton Stamp Perfect so I could stamp it several times.  I used Memento Tuxedo Black on some shiny metallic paper. I cut my die sentiment from both metallic cardstock and a pink fun foam sheet.  I like to use a color in case I don't match it perfectly (I never do).  I think the color adds dimension.  I used my Elmer's spray adhesive to glue the two together.  Making a giant mess, as ...
