CASology week 252 - INSECT

Good morning and Happy Sunday!  I have been so busy this week I have had almost no time to indulge in "me" time.  My plan is to spend most of today painting and making a few cards.  But first, I need to post this card I did manage to make during my Friday night crafting session with my bestie.  
This card is for the CASology Challenge - week 252.  The key word is INSECT.




Oh, I just love how this card turned out!  I started by taking a panel of white CS  and using my Distress Oxides (Worn Lipstick, Broken China and Wilted Violet) made a background blend.  I decided against making splatters and just adhered it to a A2 top folding card base and set aside.

I then used 2 butterfly dies from Anna Griffen and cut them out from another piece of CS.  I set aside the actual butterfly cutouts for another card down the line.  I then took a set of Martha Stewart butterfly stamps and using MFT Grout Gray I stamped 4 more butterflies on the card front to simulate motion.  I used a Wink of Stella glitter pen and added a tiny bit of sparkle which is, of course, almost impossible to show.  LOL!

I finished the card by stamping HELLO using a set from CTMH.  (All of the stamp sets are my besties, not mine, and unfortunately I did not write down the names when I was at her house Friday night).  I adhered this top panel onto the card after reblending the ink a bit.  When I put the top layer on, I did not like the way the colors shined through and had to make some changes.  The finished product is much better than what I started with.

Lawn Fawnatics and A Blog Named Hero Challenges

Hey everyone.  Well, I am very lucky as my October Monthly Hero Arts kit came just in time!  I wanted to use the dies on a tag I was making for the Lawn Fawnatics Challenge.  I kept it un-assembled until I received my package yesterday.   This tag is being entered into the  Lawnfawnatics Challenge 14 : Happy Critters  and the  A Blog Named Hero - Calling all Critters .  The Blog Named Hero Challenge is using both Hero Arts and Lawn Fawn products.  I expect to enter more as the October kit and Lawn Fawn play very nicely together! I used Toboggan together set and colored it with Spectrum Noir pens.  I made the background out of the mountain range die from the October HA kit.  I used Bristol Smooth paper and first inked it with DO Iced Spruce and Salty Ocean.  I cut it then used the mountain range stamp with white pigment HA ink to stamp some detail.  I also inked the edges of the range with the ink.  I embossed it all with sparkly EP for some shine.  I also stamped some snow

SSS Monday Challenge: Make your own Background

Happy Sunday! Just popping in with my card for the  SSS Monday Challenge: Make your own background .  I had the pleasure of making a simple Thank You card for a friend. I painted the card with layers of watercolored Indigo, attempting to make it look as the card was dipped. I cut 4 Lawn Fawn “Thanks” from 110 lb white paper and glued them together so they would pop. I finished it off with a few water droplets from Studio Katia.  Thanks for stopping by!

Hi there! If all of a sudden this post just stops mid sentence it is because my computer died.  Its almost there man!  Any day now... I am here today with this card I made last night... Here is is from another angle... I am really loving this card. At first, I was making it for the  Simon Say Stamp Wednesday Challenge Blog .  Which I still am.  But as I am painting this card, I realized that the inspiration behind this card is actually from the  CAS-ual Fridays CAS01 May Challenge .  Actually their first encouragement  challenge.  This card is what I see in the picture from that challenge. I started this card with a piece of 140 lb watercolor paper.  I stamped the sentiment from Concord & 9th in Versamark and embossed with Hero Arts White Embossing powder.  I heat set and stamped the flowers in each corner the same way.    I took out my new watercolors (eek, still exciting!) and started adding some blues, greens, a bit of yellow for contrast and purple.
