Color Throwdown #445
Hi everyone! I have never entered this contest, but have always wanted to. I am a bit intimidated as the talent on this challenge blog is fierce. However, I am just going to put myself out there - I would rather try and lose then never try at all!
Here is my first entry into the Color Throwdown #445!
This idea has been rattling around in my head for a week or so. When low and behold, I am walking the aisles at a craft store yesterday, and I see this "love" die (along with Smile and Laugh) on clearance for $3.00. Its a sign. A crafty sign.
I cut out multiple "love" words from 110 lb white cardstock. I knew I was going to go over it with ink and wanted it to not peel. I then used my Zyron to make stickers out of the words and put it aside.
Then, I used the die cut from Simon Says Stamp "You Matter" set to cut out my You in gold. I did not have gold paper, so I smooshed my "smooshing" Versamark pad on a piece of white CS and then embossed with Gold Embossing powder. Then I cut the You out of that.
(Yes, I have a Versamark to stamp with and one to Smoosh on stencils, over die cut backgrounds, or like here, on paper to create a color I do not have).
I then assembled the card. I place the first "love" where I wanted to put the You, then added the rest around it. I then added some foam to my love panel and adhered to a navy blue cardstock then my top folding card base.
I then used Distress Ink Oxide to add the pink for the color throwdown. It was a bit tricky as I could not rub in a circular motion as I normally would as the "love"s kept unsticking. Finally I accepted I had to use a different motion and just kind of dabbed the pink ink on. Now that I look at it, it just naturally took the shape of a heart, which is so cool!
Lastly, I glued on the You sentiment and called it a day! The You is actually propped up on foam (I cut a You out of fun foam and glued the gold You on top of the foam to pop.)
I have to admit, I am very fond of this card. I really miss my best friend and am hopefully going to get together with her this weekend, so this is definately going to her!
Thanks ! I have another card to share, but me and the husband are on our way to a luxury hotel for a weekend "staycation" to celebrate our wedding anniversary. No crafting for a few days, talk to you later!
