CASology Challenge and the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge

Hi again!  Did I mention I crafted all day today.  2 of my children were down with the stomach flu all weekend.  I had to stay home to take care of them and since they slept so much I had ample Card Making Time!

This card is for 2 challenges:  The CASology Challenge Week 247 - Keyword Flow and the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - a Hint of Pink using Hero Arts products.  Whew, that was a  mouthful.  This is a short post - I'm super tired after crafting all day.  Oh my gosh, that sounds like a wonderful problem to have!

I used the stamp and coordinating dies from my May Hero Arts kit - I honestly do not know if the stamp set has an official name.

I stamped 2 mermaids in VersaFine Onyx Black ink as I knew I was going to watercolor.  The CASology challenge is Flow so I felt watercolors would be best.  I did not know which I was going to use until the cards were finished.  Both are going to my nieces after I submit - so I did not worry about wasting if I made 2.  I painted both with Distress ink - Abandoned Coral ( to qualify for the "Hint of Pink" part of the challenge) and Fossilized Straw for one and Abondoned Coral, Weathered Wood, and a generic brown from my generic watercolor palette for the other.  I like to use my acrylic block for a pain tray.

I cut up a slice of Canson XL 140 lb watercolor paper and wet a square with my paintbrush.  I then took this ink that came with my May Hero Arts kit and dropped it onto the wet square.  The effect was super - but flashy so I quickly thinned it out to a more traditional watercolor background.  It was way too flashy for a CASology challenge.  But... I am down with experimenting as soon as possible with this cool ink.  It dries fast though!  I had to re-wet this square 3 times to thin out the ink.  Thank goodness I had such heavy paper - didn't even pill.  I love this paper!

I attached the mermaid (I chose the brunette on the rock as her hair really epitomized "flow" for me) using Glossy Accents in case the glue seeped out the sides.  I stamped a sentiment from MFT stamps - a set called Polynesian Paradise.   I did NOT use foam or sequins.  Eek, I'm growing by going outside of my comfort zone!  It's just difficult.  My husband was teasing me - I was literally gazing at the sequins that came in the kit with love in my eyes....

Ha!  But, I really love this card.  This one and the Blonde (I can't submit both - they are literally the same card) are being mailed to my little nieces tomorrow to remind them their Aunt misses them.
Good night all!  I'll be back tomorrow - I have 4 more cards to enter into the Simon Says Stamp challenge!

Sorry to hear your little ones were sick, but nice to have some time to craft while they slept! Your card is so pretty, I love the inked background and the pretty mermaid. Love her flowing hair! Cute sentiment, too! (Your nieces will love them!) Thanks for joining us at CASology this week!
