Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - A Hint of Pink

Hey Everybody!  I have some more entries for the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - a Hint of Pink.  Normally I would do a nice lengthy post for each card, but I have to be honest with you...I think I have caught the stomach flu that has been passed around my house this weekend.  I am thinking I have just a few hours until the sickness hits...I better get going with this post!

Here is my first entry into the challenge.

I had just finished watching a YouTube video from Kristina Werner, one of my favorites.  I decided to copy her technique in which she uses Distress inks and clear embossing powder to make a cool background.  I used 3 Distress Inks - Spun Sugar, Worn Lipstick, and Abandoned Coral and smooshed them onto a plastic baggie.  She used Distress Oxide Inks in her video -but since we haven't had a store stock those out here yonder in Gilbert Arizona, and I haven't received them as a gift from my wonderful husband or darling children (hint), I had to go with regular Distress Inks.  Still awesome.  But I still want the Distress Oxides.  Just saying.

I wet the baggie and put my Canson XL 140 lb watercolor paper on top, then flipped and used my fingers to move the ink around.  I used my heat gun to dry.

I really liked the result, but I should have used more water.  The one thing I try not to be OCD about, however, is watercoloring.  You just cant force how that water ends up sometimes.

I then used my favorite stamp of all time, Hero Arts "Large Floral Background" and stamped it in Versamark.  I used Hampton Arts clear embossing powder - the one with the super large crystals - to emboss the card and heat set.  It looks like candy to be honest.  I can see that I will need to use bold stamps when using this embossing powder - definitely not stamps with fine detail.

Second round of ink smooshing..

And, here is the finished product!  I really like this technique and will be using it again.
Now, onto business...

I knew I was going to cut a hole in the front of this card, so I die cut some ocean plants from my Hero Arts May monthly kit (love) and glued them down.  I also taped them to dry, but took off the tape in a few minutes.  I cut my panel wrong (shocker - I'm still working on getting my dimensions right with my new paper trimmer) so I used some sparkly pink tape to mask the imperfection.

I cut a circle out of my front panel using my stitched circle die.  I used 110 lb white cardstock, a staple in my cardmaking. I stamped the sentiment using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. Since this is the first time I am using the Hero Arts kit, I like to stamp more than once until my stamps become seasoned.

I also cut an oyster out of silver cardstock and stamped that a few times with the same ink.  For some reason I did not take a pic.

I glued the oyster onto the front panel and added a half pearl.  I then propped the front panel up with a sheet of fun foam.
Thanks for joining me, I will be back in a few with my next card!
